Terrifying – but awesome!

SERGIO  2010/11 -

” 600+ hours of time spent actually working with kids! Sounds terrifying – but it was AWESOME.   Yet Lifeteams extends beyond just the 9 months of you living  with a group of people learning about youth outreach. Read the name again. The environment in my year, and my willingness to open up and press in to the experience opened a door for me to form relationships with my fellow students–and the staff–that are long lasting and deep.  That’s Lifeteams.”

I am a different person …

“I can definitely say that going to Lifeteams was the best decision I have ever made. I loved living in close community and am still like family with all those I was with that year. I have grown in so many different ways in my own personal life, and in my walk with God. I am a different person then I was before Lifeteams, and I love it!”

It’s weird how realizing my fear of failure launched me into a new freedom and acceptance of what it really means to be successful and where my identity is found – in Jesus! ” Being a part of Lifeteams meant being able to be Jesus in my own community, and now, years later, Lifeteams continues to serve the people there.  I am from a First Nations community called Nemiah and when I was at Lifeteams I was blessed, but at the same time freaked out, when Rob asked if the Lifeteamers could go home with me to serve to my community.  In more ways than I could have expected I’ve seen God work and continue to bless Nemiah every year as they keep going back!  That was definately one of the places God pushed me out of my comfort zone and into work ing out my faith through Lifeteams. “

“One of the best things I could have invested my time and year into. It stretched me beyond what I thought I could do and I learnt amazing new ways to live a life honoring to God. Through my time at Lifeteams I captured a new understanding of who I am and who God made me to be and learnt how to live that fully in my daily life. What more could I have asked for? An amazing community, great teaching, great adventure and a place to live honesty and truly – in my good and my bad – being accepted and loved.”

“Some of the most useful things for me were the outreaches, especially with the homeless. Those times developed in me a heart for the poor and has given me names and faces to remember when Jesus says, “Feed the hungry; clothe the poor.” I am left me with a desire to give dignity to others because they are precious in the eyes of Jesus. But I’ve also learned that as I come to know more truth, I also have more responsibility. From that I can’t walk away unchanged.”
